I’m so happy you’re here, and I’d love to share a little about the heart behind this space.
I’m a Cali girl at heart, currently living in the South. I’m a huge foodie with an extensive cooking background, a lover of travel, and a lifelong book nerd. I’m also deeply creative and naturally drawn to eclectic style and soulful, cozy vibes.
My passion for wellness and holistic care comes from my own personal health journey. When I started college, I began experiencing digestive issues and spent years searching for answers. I was prescribed medication after medication with little relief, and honestly, much of it left me feeling worse. The physical and emotional stress took a major toll on my body, and I could no longer participate in sports and activities the way I once had.
That season led me to functional medicine, where I finally began receiving the answers I had been longing for. It marked the beginning of my healing journey. Around that same time, I discovered yoga, and it quickly became a safe haven for me. Yoga helped me reconnect with myself, rebuild trust in my body, regain strength, and find relief from stress. It also introduced me to a beautiful community of like-minded people who reminded me that healing doesn’t have to happen alone. Although I’m still on my journey, the experience sparked a deep passion that has truly transformed my life.
Creating Soulfull Haven has been an extension of that healing and my way of pouring love back into my community. The disparities within the health and fitness industry can feel overwhelming at times, and I’m passionate about helping break down those barriers. That’s why trauma-informed yoga is so meaningful to me. It creates space for people to release, reconnect, and feel safe within themselves again.
Especially within the Black community, so many of us carry things internally without having spaces where we feel fully seen, supported, and safe enough to heal. It’s an honor to hold space for others in the ways I once needed myself — and to help create experiences where people feel cared for, connected, and empowered on their journey.
Hi , I’m Kayla.
A few things you should know as a prospective student:
My teaching style is very intuitive using a therapeutic/trauma informed approach.
I am deeply passionate about mental health, holding space for the BIPOC community, and wellness access for those in lower income brackets---I feel everyone should feel safe when it comes to pursuing care for themselves and it should be attainable financially.
My favorite classes to teach are yin, restorative, and slow vinyasa flows---along with the perfect playlist to go with it and a little flava in between.
I enjoy guiding students thoughtfully with a combination of breathwork and movement. Incorporating carefully selected music tailored to the space I am holding in the moment.
Modifications are always available and encouraged.
I use nature and grounding connection to aid in embodiment/healing.
I use a combination of English and Sanskrit in my teaching, always honoring the origins of yoga while making sure poses/transitions are clear to my students.
